Who is this category for?

The intermediate category 25m with thin slackline (25mm) is for slackliners who wish to equip themselves with a first longline kit. It is for people who already have a basic knowledge of slacklining, or who wish to equip themselves with a long length to have a good margin of progress.

You will be able to tension between 3m and 25m max with these slackline kits. The length expressed is the maximum length on which a kit can be installed.

What is the difference between a ratchet tensioning system and a Primitiv (carabiners)?

The ratchet slackline kits are more intuitive to set up and the tension is easier to do on lengths under 20/25m. If you're looking for convenience, and most of the time you'll be slacklining in the same place or in your backyard, then go with this.

The Primitiv slackline kits are lighter and more compact. It's not very complicated to use, but it does take some getting used to at first. If you are looking for an easy to take with you, to do it whenever you want, wherever you want, then this is what you need.

Both types of kit are upgradeable. You will be able to add to them in the future to stretch out longer.

How do I take my first steps?

If you don't have a solid base in slackline but you want a 25m kit, I advise you to make your first steps on 5/7m maximum, at knee height. The 25m allows you to have an interesting margin of progression without being too cumbersome.
Be careful to put the excess slackline in a bag at the beginning so as not to leave it lying around and damage it by catching it in a root or a rock!

To start, don't rush, don't stretch it too long from the beginning. The learning process will be more difficult and especially longer. Start with 5/7m, then when you master the round trip with a half-turn without falling, extend by 5m. And so on until you reach 25m.
To increase the difficulty without increasing the length, you can also stretch the slackline less. It will be softer, and you will have to stretch it higher to avoid touching the middle.

Which slackline webbing to choose? Well... Except for the color of course!

There are different types of slackline webbing:

Tubular slackline webbing, playful (swell, ample and soft rebounds), they allow to have elasticity even on short distance. They are more flexible, light and compact than the flat ones.

  • The RVD and the REGGAE (only the color will differ between them, and there it is up to you to choose)
  • If you are looking for elasticity, lightness and compactness (to carry it easily), then I recommend tubular ones.

Flat slackline webbing, less elastic and easier to tighten. They are also very comfortable for bare feet because they have round edges. They are more robust than the tubular ones.

  • The Slodki, the Shaq (only the color will differ between them, and there it is up to you to choose) and the Moonwalk (intended for the confirmed)
  • If you are looking for a slackline that is easy to stretch (because it is less elastic) and very comfortable underfoot, then I recommend flat slacklines.

The differences in sensations between the different slacklines are only really noticeable after about 15/20m of length. Your choice will depend on your main criteria of use.

But don't panic, all slackline webbing are cool for slacklining on 25m! If you are really hesitating, just choose the one you think is the prettiest, it will fit without worries. And in the future, if you want to go longer, you'll have the experience and mastery on 25m to choose better!
