Petzl was founded in 1936 by two speleologists from Grenoble: Fernand Petzl and Pierre Chevalier, who revolutionized vertical progression techniques in their discipline. Petzl quickly made a name for itself and became a reference in terms of lighting and technical equipment for climbing, mountaineering and caving.
