Weblock ? Banana ? What is this ?

Banana is the common name given to webblockers in the slackline world. It replaces the sewn loop to setup your slackline.

The origin of the name banana simply comes from the first models, because they strongly resembled to... a banana!
Today we can find a little bit of all shapes :-)

The weblock (or banana), allows you to adjust the length of the slackline you need to setup. If you have 43m between your two trees and that you have a slackline of 75m, no worries!

Thanks to the weblock, you will be able to adjust the length to attach your tensioning system.

Contrary to the Linelock, it has the advantage that you can swallow the slackline directly (pre-tensionning). Very practical to use!

The SLACKIBLOC 4.0 is a strong and ultra-light banana for longline. Its hardened aluminium body allows a working load of 10 kn (50 kN breaking load) for only 165g.

  • 25 mm large webbing locker = for thin webbing
  • Weight : 165g
  • The Slackiblock has an anodized aluminum diverter which distributes the energy on the webbing's surface;
  • The inox 17-4PH makes a working load limit at 10 kN possible and provides a safety factor of 5:1
  • Composition : Tempered aluminium - very resistant to shocks and corrosion
  • With the ball-lockpin system the webbing is easily blocked and secure in the weblock.
  • Breaking Load : 50 kN
  • Working Load : 10 kN

Using advices 

  • The Slackibloc is compatible with basically all standard types of connectors.
  • We recommend 2,2T BOW SHACKLES WITH CAPTIVE PIN, one of the most efficient shackle.
  • To use on slacklines longer than 50m. Below this length, a line lock is still suitable (attention to the tension force), but the weblock will be easier to pre-tension the webbing
  • On high-tech webbing such as our "Moonwalk", it will necessary to use the double wrap method (see video below)
  • Each webbing has his own resistance into a weblock. To know the just resistance of your webbing with the Slackibloc, go to the webbing page and have a look at the "technical specifications" section

Incompatibilities

  • The Slackiblok is not a PPE equipment
    Please read carefully the user guide before use
  • Wide webbing (>25 mm)
  • Small shackles (less than and 10mm shackles)
  • Delta quick link (less than and 10mm shackles)

Slacklining and more particularly Highline (in the void, secured by a harness) are sports practices that have no normative or regulatory framework for the manufacture of the material as well as for its installation.

This is why we do not guarantee our own equipment for highline use.
Our products are tested within our company and independent laboratories (mentioned on the product page) via a process that evolves with practice.

These resistance tests have no legal value, they aim to ensure the safety, resistance and comfort of use of our equipment - in the context of our practice.

It is the responsibility of the practitioner to choose the equipment with the appropriate resistance and to have the necessary experience to adapt the installation to his practice.
And to use appropriate equipment to secure oneself if necessary, such as PPE equipment (climbing gear, ropes, etc.).

Generalities

  • Do not install your slackline across a path, trail or place of passage
  • Do not install your slackline more than 2m from the ground without securing yourself with PPE equipment
  • Practice on grassy or cushioned ground free of any protruding objects or objects that could cause injury
  • Do a back up = secure your tension system
  • Never use a ratchet for highline practice
  • Never install your slackline on urban furniture (benches, lampposts, barriers, etc.)


Safety regarding highlining

It is the responsibility of the practitioner to use appropriate equipment to secure oneself if necessary, such as PPE (climbing equipment, ropes, etc.).

In NO CASE is this equipment designed to secure itself. For the lifeline - called backup - we advise to use only PPE standard material (climbing material, ropes, etc).
Unless expressly mentioned, no slackline element can be considered as PPE (personal protective equipment) for sports and leisure activities

NEVER USE SLACKLINE MATERIAL TO SECURE YOURSELF / TIE YOURSELF DOWN. IT IS NOT CLIMBING EQUIPMENT, NOR IS IT EPI STANDARD EQUIPMENT.
